What is RapNet06 for Microsoft Excel?
RapNet06 is an add-in for Microsoft Excel developed by Rapaport. This Excel Add-In
is a file with an .xla extension that Excel loads when it starts up. The file contains
VBA code that adds additional functionality to Excel, in the form of new functions
to work with the
Rapaport Price Lists and with RapNet.
RapNet06 is a very
powerful tool for those who use it wisely.
System requirements:
Microsoft Excel XP (2002), 2003 or 2007
Windows XP, 2000, 2003 or Vista.
Internet connection
Special installation instructions:
Macro and Excel security settings:RapNet06 is a macro, and in order for it
to work you must allow macro's to run in Excel and to interact with the internet.
Set macro level to Medium.
Excel 2002 / 2003: Tools > Macro > Security > Choose Medium.
Excel 2007: Ribbon > Excel Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings
> Macro Settings > Disable all macros with notification.
You will also get a "Security Warning Data connections have been disabled" message
just above your worksheet. Click on Options > Choose enable this content (for both
Macro and Data connection)
Microsoft Vista Setup:After installing RapNet06 on a Microsoft Vista, you
must logon with the administrator user, and do the following:
Find the folder RapNet06 installation folder, typically this is "C:\Program Files\RapNet
06\" > Right Click on the folder > Select "Properties" > Select "General Tab" >
Uncheck "Read Only" > Click "Apply" > Select "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders
and files" > Click "Ok" > Select "Security Tab" > Click "Edit" > Select the user
that you want to change his permissions from "Groups or user names" (if you don't
know - choose USERS) Mark "Full Control" under "Permissions for Users" > Click "Ok"
> Click "Ok"
Basic functions that allow you to:
- View Rapaport PriceLists in Microsoft Excel.
- Automatically fill-in Rapaport Prices on your list of diamonds in Excel.
- Calculate diamond inventory based on percentages, and vice versa, of Rapaport
Prices.
- Post your diamond listings for sale on RapNet.
- Download RapNet Buy Requests into Excel.
- Easy to use price worksheet for calculating Rap and inventory.
Fill-in Rapaport Prices: Always make sure that the Rapaport Prices are up
to date, by clicking the "Update Prices" button. The following columns are used
to calculate Rapaport Price functions:

Advanced functions:
For advanced users there are functions included which can be used in formulas. To
use these functions in a workbook you must click on Load Function Library. The following
functions are available: rap_price(shape,size,color,clarity) This will return the
Rapaport price. rap_pct(MyPrice,RapPrice) This will return the percentage difference
between your price and the Rapaport price. To use these functions, click on the
"=" button on the formula bar, then click on the dropdown list of functions on the
left, choose "More functions...". In the Function Category list go to the bottom
and choose "User defined". You should see a list of the Rapaport functions on the
right. Choose one of them and a dialog box will prompt you to choose the cells which
contain the parameters to be passed to the function. The following is an example.
Common problems:
Even though the add-in technology is very powerful when it is working, it doesn't
work if the add-in is not loaded in your workbook.In order to load RapNet06, open
RapNet06 through Start > Programs > RapNet06 > Launch Rap-Price-Sheets.xls or Launch
RapNet06-Trading.xls.
Problem #1: If the RapNet06 toolbar does not appear in the Excel worksheet
OR the toolbar appears cut-off after "Rapaport Prices", then:
Excel 2002/2003:
1. Open your Excel Program, and from the top program menu, click 'Tools', then "Add-Ins".
2. In the Add-Ins window, click 'Browse' and locate your RapNet 06 folder (Default:
'C:\Program Files\RapNet 06').
3. Select the 'RapNet06.xla' file inside your RapNet 06 folder, and click 'OK'.
'RapNet06' Add-In will be Added to your Excel Add-Ins list.
4. Click 'OK' in the Add-Ins window to save your setting.
That's it! Now close your Excel window and start RapNet '06 normally.
If this doesn't help, try deleting the toolbar:
1. Right click the toolbar
2. Delete custom toolbar (in 2003 = customize > toolbars > selected RapNet06 and
delete)
3. Close Excel
4. Open RapNet 06 from Start > Programs > RapNet06 > Launch Rap-Price-Sheets
Excel 2007:
Ribbon > Excel Options > Add-ins > Select RapNet 06 in list on right. > Click Go...
> Browse and locate your RapNet 06 folder (Default: 'C:\Program Files\RapNet 06').
Click OK
If this does not help, then do the following:
1. Under Add-ins, Right click the toolbar
2. Delete Custom Toolbar
3. Close Excel
4. Open RapNet 06 from Start > Programs > RapNet06 > Launch Rap-Price-Sheets
Problem #2: Copying "Price Worksheet" data into RapNet 06
Simple copy & paste functions will not work in the RapNet Price Worksheet, (they
do in sell work sheet and any other Excel sheet) because the automatic function
in the background will stop working. In order to solve this, import the data you
have in a new Price Worksheet in the following way:
1) Open a new "Price Worksheet" in Rapnet06
2) Add 1 temporary diamond details to the worksheet (it will be deleted at the end)
3) Select in the new worksheet the same amount of rows that are used (with details)
in the "Price Worksheet". From Rapnet99 start the selection from row #3
4) Click on the right button of the mouse
5) Click on "Insert" (the total row should go down)
6) Copy all data from Rapnet99 "Price Worksheet" (without the headers)
7) Paste the data in the new "Price worksheet" (in Rapnet06)
8) Delete the temporary row that you created in step 2
